Total Drek

Or, the thoughts of several frustrated intellectuals on Sociology, Gaming, Science, Politics, Science Fiction, Religion, and whatever the hell else strikes their fancy. There is absolutely no reason why you should read this blog. None. Seriously. Go hit your back button. It's up in the upper left-hand corner of your browser... it says "Back." Don't say we didn't warn you.

Just so you know what's going on...

Here in the United States it is Labor Day, the one day a year that we celebrate the sacrifices made by working stiffs everywhere. Tomorrow we go back to shamelessly exploiting the crap out of them. My Sainted Fiancee and I are, oddly enough, working today on various sociology-related projects but- striking a blow for grad students everywhere- are doing it from home. Until later this afternoon, anyway.

Happy Labor Day, folks! Regular blogging resumes tomorrow.

Special thanks to Jorge Cham of PhD Comics for the excellent cartoon above. I will, of course, remove it at his request but he's a nice guy and you should all buy his merchandise. Seriously.

Actually, I have a plan of sorts, but am not sure how to execute it with the specified implements. I'm debating cheating by using colored pencils or pens.

I felt a design was brewing. To help make it easier for you I'll allow the use of "magic markers", So that we're both on the same wavelength about the meaning of "MAGIC markers" check the link. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marker_pen )
NO to coloured pencils.

I really wish you could invest in some watercolours (WC). The problem with the markers is you'll have to be very sure of what you're drawing...no room for error. With WC's you can add more water to blur out what's not intended, giving a better sense of obscurity to the drawing. WC's also give a better quality of "flow" to the piece. But then again, WC's may not be a comfortable medium for you to work with and we want you to feel at ease working on this.
If you do decide to go with the markers may I suggest that you "pencil sketch" your vision first. Don't go over with the markers until you're sure that's exactly how you want it to look.

Oh, and remember, only FOUR colours can be used.
You're going to get good marks for effort *smile* ..seems you're giving this a lot of thought. I'm sure your readers are looking forward to seeing the end result.

We didn't set a deadline date on this artistic expression piece since you had the conference to attend so maybe now is the time to do so.. that is unless you'd like to keep us all in suspense! ;) *smile*
