Total Drek

Or, the thoughts of several frustrated intellectuals on Sociology, Gaming, Science, Politics, Science Fiction, Religion, and whatever the hell else strikes their fancy. There is absolutely no reason why you should read this blog. None. Seriously. Go hit your back button. It's up in the upper left-hand corner of your browser... it says "Back." Don't say we didn't warn you.

Washington will burn with them*

I came across this story on the BBC and as people keep pointing out that it is not being covered elsewhere I will put it up here for your reference.
A hundred deaths in custody, 8 to 12 of which may have been tortured to death. Not all of this is new, granted, but certainly this is worth knowing about?

*obscure reference

As I said on the TDEC's personal blog (seriously, go read it now, it's cool), I think the fact that this news is nowhere to be found in the U.S. is an effect of Fox News.

The rest of the broadcast (and some of the print) media is so afraid of being labeled as liberal America-hating non-troop-supporting terrorist sympathizers that they won't touch stories that could put the U.S. in a bad light. They're worried that if they get such a label, they'll lose viewers to Fox News.

So Fox News's intentionally right-wing ideology is being perpetuated on the rest of America, purely as a business decision.

Since we have little control over the media, our only choice is to spread this news as widely as we can. Thanks, TDEC, for bringing this to our attention.

Every time I think Bush and his pals can't make me feel any more ashamed of my country, they manage to find a way.

I really do love the United States, despite all its wacky faults. This really, really upsets me.
